shuffle love

You've had bad luck with your nano. I got mine for Christmas and have used to near constantly, and it still holds its charge well and is, if not in mint condition, at least acceptable looking during those rare times I take it out of its case.

Brad Choate wrote a good post on why he doesn't think the new shuffle is as good as the old one. I had a shuffle for a while and I enjoyed it, but eventually it just wasn't worth always the pain of trying to keep the collection on it fresh, and not being able to browse through it or select.
yeah, being able to choose is extra nice...but you must like surprises (see yesterday's QotD)....hence--your preference=shuffle.

my music collection is too random to push shuffle on itunes...haven't figured a way to only shuffle through certain types of music ...(seems like you can only sort by one category.) anyone have any tips?

Meg: you can create a smart playlist.

1. Select New Smart Playlist... from the File menu.
2. In the resulting dialo box, set Genre equal to whatever you want to shuffle through.
3. Click OK to save the smart playlist.
4. Then select the smart playlist (I recommend renaming it something sensible) and go to the Controls menu and select Shuffle.
5. You can now listen to that genre of music in shuffle. You can also create smart playlists of multiple genres by adding criteria in the New Smart Playlist dialog.
too much trouble. I love my bitty baby shuffle, too. it's so light, it's hard to believe it's actually technology that packs a music whallop. clip sounds good-- swings too much on the neck cord.
We have a new radio station, Jack FM. They play the coolest shuffle of music ever. It can go from Dolly Parton singing, "I will always love you," to Nickelback to Loverboy in the blink of an eye. We love it at work. I hear they are across the nation -- maybe there's one in your city.
